InFems
Kicking off Frieze Art week in London we have: Marie-Anne Mancio, Roxana Halls, Nádia Duvall discussing their collective IN-FEMS and their current exhibition launching during Frieze week at Flowers Gallery on Cork street in London, England.
The exhibition titled LOST GIRLS aims to empower with a focus on survival rather than victimhood. The stellar line-up of artists includes Ai Weiwei, Maggi Hambling, Caroline Coon, Tracey Moffatt, Penelope Slinger, Owanto, Tewodros Hagos, Pam Hogg, Peter Howson and Linder. The show aims to raise funds for War Child UK’s crucial work, providing support to children and their families in 15 countries worldwide.
Some of the topics in this conversation may be triggering so I am cautioning listeners to keep a note of this and to use discernment.

ALICE MOREY
Alice was born in London, she currently lives and works in Berlin. She holds an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art, London and a BA in painting from the University of Brighton. She is part of Phaidon's latest drawing edition; Vitamin D3, Today's Best in Contemporary Drawing (2021) and had her first solo institutional exhibition in Germany at MEWO Kunsthalle, Memmingen, curated by Lorenzo Graf (2022). Morey has exhibited internationally and has led projects at Saatchi Gallery, Camden Arts Centre, Tate Britain, Kunsthaus Bethanien. She is currently represented by Lehmann + Silva gallery, Porto.
Morey often works collaboratively and sees that as an integral part of her working practice. She is the founder of alternative art residency, CountdownGrabowsee, Heilstätte Grabowsee (2012-present).
In her experiment-based practice, Morey problematises how materials, plants, microorganisms and other non-human entities are commodified. Her paintings, installations and performances appear as processual attempts to establish a symbiotic and non-violent relationship with our environs. Fragility, healing and aggression characterise these relational and contradictory attempts at coexistence with non-human entities. Her work often deals with the fundamental processes of painting and suggests an alternative way, one where painterly means are set into a biological life cycle and beyond sterile fixation.

GINA MAY WALTER
Gina May Walter is a director, singer and performance artist equally at home on and off stage. Whether in classical operatic roles such as Frau Fluth in Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor (Nicolai) or Elektra in Idomeneo (Mozart), in more classical contemporary works such as the solo soprano in Micha Tangain's In Absentia (premiered at the Tischlerei of the Deutsche Oper Berlin), or in the wholly contemporary children's opera Kuck kuck im Koffer, Mathias Kaul (Junge Deutsche Oper)
Her operatic stage craft and presence are undeniable. She transfers these skills to other stages as well, touring with her song partner Kunal Lahiry or her extensive work with music theater groups of Berlin's independent scene, such as gamut inc. (this is not a swan song, R.U.R. - Eine Roboteroper), Manos Tsangaris (Winzig), or with her home ensemble Opera Lab Berlin.Since joining the ensemble, she has extensively honed her acting, performing and vocal technique. Some of her memorable roles, Dolly Parton in Gunfighter Nation (Gardner), PT Barnum Humbug(Lang), Soprano 1 in Stimmung (Stockhausen) - a fully choreographed version in which she danced and sang harmonics simultaneously - have shown that Gina has multiple strings to her proverbial performer's bow.
Opera Lab Berlin was the obvious partner for her directorial debut with HUM-AN Orchestra, a reinterpretation of Kagel's two-man orchestra for the non-binary, digital age. On digital platforms, Gina also has an intersectional feminist podcast, The Vagitators. Along with her co-host Mathilde Monge, also known as Barnaby Alive, she explores the pitfalls of absolute female power.
This theme is a common thread throughout Gina's work and informs her current commissions, a new project on Barbara Strozzi, a revival of the operetta Magna Mater with Tutti d'amore - and everything else she has in store for the future.
